Large Farm #45

Another classic Kentucky barn, this one houses Haflinger brood mares in the rolling hills of Bourbon County.  The hay loft over the center aisle extends over the stalls and is accessed by elevators through three sets of sliding loft doors.  Initially intended as a porch, the tack room in the front contains equipment for dressage, hunter-seat, western pleasure, as well as driving, all disciplines that the Haflinger can master.

The interior of this Haflinger barn features full mesh stall doors, a wash stall, lounge, tack and feed rooms.  The stall partitions were designed to swing against the back wall of the stalls allowing the owner to create three 12’x48’ stalls for foaling or to house a colic horse.  A closed-circuit TV system throughout the barn gives the owner the opportunity to monitor her brood mares from the comfort of her living room.

Getting ready for winter, this beautiful Kentucky hay can be dropped into each stall from above.  Keeping the area above the stalls open allows air circulation from the stall windows and soffit vents through the ridge vent.
